The Three Torches 3/25: Baseball's 2 Big Ten Honors

Two baseball players earned Big Ten Weekly Honors.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Best Arms. The baseball team had two players earn Big Ten weekly honors. Mason Edwards was named the Pitcher of the Week. He tossed 6.0 innings, giving up just one hit and three walks while striking out a career-high 12 batters. Gavin Lauridsen was named the Freshman of the Week. He tossed the final 3.0 innings to earn his second save of the season and set a new career high with four strikeouts.

🔼 Day 2. The No. 2 women’s golf team remains in first place after round two of the PING ASU Invitational. USC has a team score of 552 (-24). Catherine Park is in first place individually with a score of 134 (-10). Elise Lee is in second place, hitting eight under par.

🔼 Three Down. The men’s golf team played all three rounds at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The men finished in 13th place with a score of 838 (-14). Jaden Dumdumaya led the team with a seventh-place finish individually. He hit a career-best 201 (-12).

Today’s Top Tier Performance presented by ARCO are track and field athletes Garrett Kaalund and Madison Whyte. The two Trojans were named to the Big Ten Outdoor Athletes to Watch List. The outdoor season kicks off on Marc 27 and 28 at the Colich Throwing Center and Allyson Felix Field.
