🔼 Bring Out the Brooms. The No. 3 ranked Trojans took to the sand on Senior Day and squared off against CSU Bakersfield in one of their final matches before the Pac-12 Championship next week.

The day opened with seniors (and twin-sisters) Audrey and Nicole Nourse starting things off right with a two set win to give USC a 1-0 lead early in the day. To make things even sweeter, they sealed the deal with an ace for the last point of the match. Securing the win for USC was Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple who defeated their pairing 21-10, 21-11 to put the Trojans up 3-0 on the day.

The real icing on the cake was the WhiteWalker, Gabby Walker and Madison White, sealing a win for the Trojans with this incredible spike to add to USC’s team total and complete the sweep.

USC will go into Mapes Beach and take on rival UCLA and Loyola Marymount on Thursday in a couple of top-5 matchups. A strong 5-0 showing is sure to bring confidence into the rest of the season, and especially the Pac-12 Championship slated for next Wednesday.

🔼 Got Back Right. The Trojans bounced back with a solid mid-week win against CSUN, 8-5.

The scoring started early as USC found themselves down 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning, but it was Connor Aoki who brought it back all square with a two-run blast. Adding to the lead was Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek with a two-run shot of his own to double the lead for the good guys.

Pitcher Toby Spach earned the win on the night improving to 2-1 and Kyle Wisch came in to get the save to stave off any sort of comeback CSUN had in mind. This USC win will hopefully prepare them for rivalry weekend as UCLA comes to town this weekend.

🔼 Finishing the Fight. The No. 11 Trojan men’s tennis squad squares off today for its penultimate regular season match against UCLA.

If history repeats itself (as it usually tends to do) the Trojans will be looking good as they defeated this same UCLA team 4-0 in their earlier matchup this January. The 31st ranked singles player, Stefan Dostanic and 44th ranked Peter Makk look to continue their stellar seasons and adding to their 37 combined wins this season. Doubles team Dostanic and Bradley Frye come into the match ranked 10th in the ITA.

You can catch all the tennis action live here and follow along as USC tries to complete the season-sweep against the Bruins.

🔼 It’s Going Down. The MPSF quarterfinals are among us as the Trojans will face off against Stanford later today. USC enters the tournament coming off a pair of wins that earned them the six seed.

All-Americans Simon Gallas and Kevin Kobrine have given the team the team just over three points per serve. Freshman Dillon Klein looks to continue his strong showing after earning his MPSF Offensive Player of the Week with his team-leading 4.17 points per set. Earlier this season, the Trojans defeated Stanford 3-2 and have gone 7-3 in their last 10 matchups.

Our question today—do you know when USC began fielding a women’s beach volleyball team?

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Round two of the Pac-12 Championship is done, and your USC Trojans are sitting pretty at the top in a tie for first with Arizona at -8 with just one more day to go.

The No. 15 ranked club in the nation had two players, Catherine Park and Xin (Cindy) Kou card a score under par to help lead the team into position to strike on Day 3. Sophomore Amari Avery and senior Malia Nam also contributed to the squad, and all four girls are in the hunt for the individual hunt sitting in the top-13.

With one day left, it’s go low or go home, and the Trojans will look to win their third Pac-12 title since 2019. The final round will tee off at 9:10 am PT, and with so much on the line, it’s bound to be a good tournament the rest of the way.

Answer: 2012

The first beach volleyball team was coached by Anna Collier and it only took one year to reach a top-3 ranking and three years to win it all!

Have a great Wednesday, everyone.
