The Three Torches 10/27: New Opportunity
Today, a look into the Trojans' weekend ahead
Good morning! It’s been said time and time again that USC is wide receiver university, but through seven weeks in this NFL season, we have the stats that can back that claim up.
What all can you find in today's Brew?
🏈 Trojans Back Up
🤽♂️ Best in the Sport
⚔️ And much, much more!

🔼 Trojans Back Up. The Trojans will hit the road looking to avenge last week’s loss in a game against longtime foe, California. The matchup will mark the 110th meeting between the two programs.
USC football enters the game as the No. 24 ranked team in the country and will look to use its high-powered offense to knock off an unranked California team. Historically, the Trojans hold the advantage with a 71-32-5 all-time record.
🔼 So Long, Fares Well. A top-10 matchup is set as No. 4 USC men’s water polo will hit the pool to face off against No. 8 Long Beach State. The Trojans return to action for the first time since Oct. 14th as they look to get back on track with a win behind the stellar play from Massimo Di Martire and Max Miller (more on them in a bit).
🔼 Solid Shutout. Taking on the No. 4 team in the country is no small task, but the Women of Troy were up for it and found a way to get a hard-earned point from a draw against Stanford. USC more than doubled the amount of shots than their opponents but were unable to find the back of the net.
Now 5-1-3 in Pac-12 play, the Trojans will face off against California in the team’s final regular season home game at Noon on Sunday.
🔼 On Your Marks. USC women’s cross country heads to the starting line for the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park in Washington to compete in the 6K race. It will be a new experience for each of the eight Trojan runners as none of them competed in the 2022 Championships.
🔼 Trojan Tourney. It’s baaaack! The Trojan men’s tennis team will host the SoCal Intercollegiate Championships this week in the four-day event in the team’s home court debut. Peter Makk and the rest of the Trojans come in to the tournament off a strong showing at the ITA Southwest Regional where Makk made a semifinals appearance and duo Sam Rubell and Wojtek Marek made it to the doubles quarterfinals round.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING
Told you we would have more on this duo! USC men’s water polo stars Max Miller and Massimo Di Martire have each landed on the Peter J. Cutino Award list, an award that recognizes the best player in water polo.
Both Miller and Di Martire are at the top of the list in goals scored with 27 and 26 respectively, but each have one thing on their minds for the rest of the season - leading the Trojans to its 19th straight season to the NCAA Tournament.
