🔼 Setting the Tone. In the Trojans' first game of the season, Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier set the tone with a 82-69 win in Las Vegas for the team’s first win. Ellis finished as the team’s top scorer with 24 points, adding five assists and four steals. Collier, in his collegiate debut, had a complete performance by shooting 77.8% and scoring 18 points.

Opening up the season 1-0, the Trojans will head to the Galen Center for the home opener to play CSU Bakersfield on Thursday night.

🔼 Field of Honor. For the third time in her career, USC volleyball standout Skylar Fields was named the AVCA/GameChanger National Player of the Week. She also became the fourth Trojan to receive the national award twice in a career, joining Khalia Lanier, Samantha Bricio and Alex Jupiter. Last week, she averaged eight kills per set on a .442 hitting percentage, ultimately earning her the award.

🔼 Upset Alert. Just one game in the season, USC women’s basketball put the nation on notice by upsetting No. 7 ranked Ohio State with a 83-74 season-opening win. It was the first win against a ranked opponent in a season opener since 1990 where Trojan legend Lisa Leslie put up 30 points in her freshman debut. Sound familiar?

It should, because freshman Juju Watkins showed up and showed out with a similar performance, dropping 32 point, six rebound, five assist performance and earning Player of the Game honors. Rayah Marshall stepped in and delivered a double-double on the night with 18 points and a massive 17 rebounds. In a preseason that had hype surrounding the program, the Women of Troy delivered. Now, the Trojans will head back home to face off against Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at the Galen Center.

🔼 Making A Splash. Following back-to-back wins in the desert, USC women’s swimming senior Kaitlyn Dobler was announced as the Pac-12 Swimmer of the month. The first honor of her career comes off her meet record 100y breaststroke performance where she recorded a time of 57.35 seconds.

🔼 Tournament Time. On the heels of a 10-4-3 regular season, USC soccer is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th year in a row, this time as the No. 8 seed. The Women of Troy will host Grand Canyon this Friday at 2 p.m. at McAlister Field for a chance to move on to the next round of the tournament.

🔼 Crown Them. A pair of 2023 National Champions started the preseason off strong by winning the BVNE (Beach Volleyball National Events) Collegiate Preseason Tournament AAA Gold title. To make it even sweeter, Trojans Delaynie Maple and Gabby Walker defeated a UCLA duo for the crown.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Coming off a big win against Stanford, Bernardo Herzer and Andrej Grgurevic earned a pair of MPSF weekly awards for their performances in the pool.

🤽 Herzer was named as MPSF’s Newcomer of the Week after making a career-high 14 saves at the net. He helped the Trojans stifle Stanford, holding them scoreless for an 11 minute stretch.

🤽‍♂️ GrGurevic was named as the MPSF Player of the Week after tying his career high with three goals on just four shots. He scored the first two goals of the game, and ended the match with another to seal the win for USC.
