The Three Torches 12/28: Holiday Bowl Heroics

Today, Moss Miller and the Trojans are you DirecTV Holiday Bowl champs

Good morning! The sensational Moss Miller and all of Trojan football reminded the college football world that USC is still a team that should not be taken lightly. USC capped off the season with an important win that will send all of Trojan Nation smiling into the new year.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Soak it in Trojan fans, USC are DirecTV Holiday Bowl champs! Despite entering the game as underdogs, a now eggnog-soaked Lincoln Riley helped lead his team to a convincing 42-28 victory over No. 16 Louisville in San Diego.

No Caleb Williams, no problem. The Trojans came into the game with a new starting quarterback for the first time all season with Williams on the sideline, and instantly, Moss Miller became a name USC fans won’t soon forget. Miller, in his first collegiate start, went 23-33 for 372 yards and a Holiday Bowl-record six touchdowns.

On the receiving end of those touchdown throws was Tahj Washington, who hauled in seven catches for 99 yards and a pair of scores, and Ja’Kobi Lane, who also scored twice on three catches for 60 yards. Also getting in the endzone was Duce Robinson who streaked down the field for a 44-yard score, and Kyron Hudson who scored with two catches for 16 yards.

Adding to the fun were the defense and special teams as they stepped up in the clutch on multiple occasions throughout the game. Safety Max Williams forced a fumble in the first quarter to set up the first score of the game for the Trojans, and Kyron Hudson added to his impressive stat line with a blocked punt to set up another eventual touchdown for USC.

With the sun now setting on the 2023 season, the Trojans will head into the new year with momentum as they head to the Big Ten in 2024.
