🔼 All Gas, No Brakes. After stealing game one from the No. 2-ranked Oregon State Beavers on a walk-off hit, Trojan baseball fired up the bats and put up 17 runs in a game two rout. Not only were the 17 runs a season-high for USC, but the 17 runs scored were the most Oregon State has allowed since 2022, and the 13-run margin marked the worst defeat for a Beavers team since 2012. The bottom of the fifth inning saw the Trojans plate 10 runners home, sending 14 players to bat. With the series in hand, USC was unable to go for a sweep due to inclement weather.
🔼 Final From Papago. USC women’s golf wrapped up their showing at the PING/ASU Invitational in a tie for 12th place after finishing at 11-over-par. Sophomore Catherine Park was the top scorer for the Women of Troy and finished in a tie for 21st. Freshman Bailey Shoemaker and senior Christine Wang both ended up in a tie for 49th place at six-over-par.
🔼 Fast Dash. USC track and field’s Jassani Carter won the women's 100m dash and Johnnie Blockburger placed second in the men's 400m race to lead the Trojans during the final day of the Florida Relays. Jan'Taijah Jones placed third in the women's 400m race with a time of 51.59, and the men's 4x100m relay team placed fourth with a time of 39.55.
🔼 Mr. All-American. The No. 21 ranked USC men's swimming and diving team, led by freshman first-team All-American Krzysztof Chmielewski, concluded action at the 2024 NCAA Championships in 22nd in the team standings with 31 points. Chmielewski turned in a huge day in the pool as the Trojan freshman earned All-America honors in the 1650y freestyle and the 200y butterfly to become USC's highest-finishing All-American since 2007.
🔼 Southern Split. The top-ranked USC beach volleyball team split its matches at the Death Valley Invitational over the weekend. After falling 3-2 to the tournament hosts, the Trojans bounced back with a 4-1 win over No. 5 Florida State, including three matches that ended with straight-set victories.
🔼 No Quit. Trojan lacrosse’s rally cry was heard as Maddie Dora slotted home the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter against Pac-12 foe, California, to come away with the come-from-behind 9-8 win. Shelby Tilton led USC with four goals in the match while Ella Heaney helped the offense with a hat-trick of her own. The win improved the Trojans to 3-0 in conference play as the team prepares to travel to Eugene, Ore., for a battle against the Ducks.
