🔼 Hello, Friends. This week, three current and one future Trojan are competing at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur against some of the top amateurs in the world. The first two rounds of the four-day contest will take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club, with the final round taking place at Augusta National Golf Club — the home of the most famous tournament in the world, The Masters.

Through round one, all four sit inside the top 25 with future Trojan, Jasmine Koo, leading at 3-under par. Amari Avery and Bailey Shoemaker weren’t far behind after shooting a pair of 2-under-par 70s to open the tournament, and just one shot back from them was Catherine Park at 1-under par.

🔼 High Praise. Following the team’s run in the NCAA Tournament, three Women of Troy were named to the All-Tournament Team for Portland Region 3. The trio of JuJu Watkins, McKenzie Forbes and Rayah Marshall were each selected because of their play that led the No. 1 seed to the Elite Eight.

🔼 Chart Toppers. Sitting atop the Pac-12 leaderboard, the No. 9-ranked Women of Troy will hit the road this weekend for some more conference matchups. On Friday, USC women’s tennis will face off against Colorado, and on Sunday, will duel against Utah. Currently, four Trojans appear in the national singles rankings, with sophomore Emma Charney leading USC at No. 28 and junior Grace Piper locked in the No. 56 ranking. Trojan fifth-year Eryn Cayetano sits at No. 68 and redshirt senior Snow Han claimed the No. 100 spot.

🔼 Mound Shutdown. USC baseball shut down UC San Diego last night, holding the Tritons to one hit and no runs in a 5-0 victory. Kevin Takeuchi led USC at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Tyler Stromsborg led the way on the mound with six scoreless innings in the start as the Trojans recorded their 12th win of the season.

Scoring Machine. Brenden Rice was no stranger to the endzone as he led all USC wide receivers in touchdowns during the 2023 season.

Our question today: do you know how many touchdowns Rice scored this past season?

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Add another national accolade to the list.

USC women’s basketball’s JuJu Watkins was named the WBCA Freshman of the Year. Instrumental to the Trojans’ run to the Elite Eight, Watkins was the first woman from USC to be selected for the honor. Watkins wrapped the Trojan's 2023-24 season as the nation's highest-scoring freshman in history with 920 points scored in her freshman campaign. Her point total also ranks her No. 4 all-time among all Pac-12 players. She already holds another USC record (male or female) with 14 games with 30 or more points scored — a mark that beats out Iowa's Caitlin Clark's previous national record of 12 for the most such games for a freshman over the last 25 seasons.
