🔼 Strong Finish. USC women’s volleyball tipped off the season this weekend down in Houston for their first three matches, two of which saw the squad face nationally ranked opponents.

🏐 The regular season opener saw the Trojans square up against the No. 19 hometown Houston Cougars. The match saw some spark from the frontline, but ultimately, USC fell three sets to one.

🏐 Game two in the Lone Star State saw the Trojans take on No. 22 Rice. Senior Skylar Fields came away with 18 kills on the match, but it wasn’t enough to give USC the win.

🏐 The final game of the weekend saw the Trojans bounce back in a real way against Southern Miss. USC poured on the points, and thanks to Fields’ 17 kills and Mia Tuaniga’s 30 assists on the match, the Trojans put on a clean sweep of the Golden Eagles.

🔼 Going For Gold. Former Trojan standout track star, TeeTee Terry, helped Team USA to a gold medal performance this weekend at the World Athletics Championships in the 4×100 event. The team put together a time of 41.03, a championship record!

🔼 Top Five Showdown. After a thrilling win against the No. 4 team in the country from the Women of Troy last Thursday, the squad fell short against top-5 opponent North Carolina yesterday afternoon.

The Trojans held the Tar Heels to just one goal in the first half, but were unable to contain the team in the second half. On offense, both Katie Roditis and Keely Roy recorded shots on goal, but ultimately, could not find the room to get it past the opposing goalkeeper. USC returns to McAlister Field this week after a promising roadtrip.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

What a way to start the season.

USC football is all the way back as the team took on San Jose State for the Trojans’ season opener. It was a back and forth affair throughout the first half, but Heisman front-runner Caleb Williams delivered some of the game’s best plays with a fumbled snap, 76-yard touchdown heave to wide receiver Tahj Washington to get the Coliseum’s full attention.

The big story of the day? Freshman Zachariah Branch’s debut. He finished his first game in the cardinal and gold with:

With a solid 56-28 win under the Trojans’ belts, and an undefeated record still intact, the focus now shifts to USC’s next opponent: Nevada.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Adoree Jackson!

Jackson achieved the same feat as Branch did this past weekend in 2016 when USC defeated Notre Dame in-part due to Jackson’s 55-yard punt return and 52-yard receiving score from QB Sam Darnold.

⚔️ Have a great Monday, everyone!
