🔼 Tres A Cero. For the third time this season, the Trojans shutout their opponents at home in a 3-0 win against New Mexico State. USC had three different players put the ball in the back of the net with Helena Sampaio’s 27th minute goal, Maribel Flores’ goal just one minute later, and last but not least, Kayla Colbert’s 76th minute strike.
🔼 Lax In The Fall. USC lacrosse is gearing up for a busy month of fall ball after announcing the team’s fall schedule that will include five events. Kicking off the month-long season, the Trojans will play in their lone home game of the season in the Cardinal and Gold scrimmage on September 23rd. Then, the team will hit the road for four straight games against San Diego State, Boston, Harvard, and UC Davis.
🔼 Kept Fighting. Behind Skylar Fields’ career-high 30.5 points, the Trojans picked up a hard fought five set win against Illinois for their fourth win in a row at the Boilermaker Challenge. After falling behind 2-1, USC kicked it into high gear, and stormed back to take the fourth set 25-20 and beat out the Fighting Illini by two points in the fifth and final set.
🔼 Splash, Rinse, Repeat. This weekend, No. 3 USC men’s water polo will suit up for two games at home, one against a ranked opponent, and another in a friendly exhibition.
The Trojans’ will take on No. 11 UC Santa Barbara in the first game of a busy Saturday. Last year, the Trojans beat UCSB 10-6, and USC holds the lifetime series advantage with a 77-13-2 record. The second match is scheduled to be an exhibition against Golden West where last year, the Trojans came away victorious. Massimo Di Martire and Max Miller currently lead the way as top goal scorers for the team, while the Trojans’ trio of goalkeepers are allowing just 7.8 goals per game.
🔼 Best in the U.S. A big congrats is in order for Kaitlyn Dobler who was selected as a member of the U.S Swimming National Team. She will represent Team USA in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
The team, consisting of only six members, is comprised of swimmers that hold the fastest times in each individual Olympic event. Dobler won the 2022 NCAA 100y breaststroke and is a four-time CSCAA First Team All-American, leading to her Team USA selection.

From USC to the MLB. Former Trojan Kyle Hurt made his major league debut with the LA Dodgers this week and put up a solid stat line. The relief pitcher went two innings, gave up zero runs, and struck out the side to end the game.
Our question today — do you know how many former Trojans have gone on to play in the MLB, including Hurt?
