Good morning! USC soccer has been on a tear to open up the season, and so far, the team is loving the atmosphere the home crowd brings to the game. The Trojans have shutout each of their opponents at home this year - outscoring them 5-0.

🔼 Big Waves. The No. 2 ranked Trojan men’s water polo squad fired off a solid start to the season. USC returned home with an undefeated 4-0 record from the Triton Invitational.

Two of the team’s wins came in blowout fashion. Across the two games, the Trojans more than handled business and outscored their opponents 39-4. The other two wins, that bookended the tournament, came against ranked opponents. USC edged out #17 California Baptist and had a dramatic come-from-behind win against #11 UC San Diego.

🔼 Off To The Races. Under the lights at the LMU South Bay Twilight Meet, USC’s women’s cross country team had a strong start to the season. The team finished second place, and Marjourie Lopez placed fourth individually, leading the way to USC’s highest finish in a tournament since 2016.

🔼 Not Too Bad. Coming off of a NCAA runner-up finish, the Women of Troy golf team are ready to reload for another strong season. The Golf Channel seemed to think so too, and awarded them the No. 2 spot on the women’s golf preseason top 30 teams list.

Along with a #2 ranking, three USC golfers were named to the Preseason Players to Watch List. Amari Avery came in at number four, Catherine Park was slotted at number 19, and Bailey Shoemaker was given the number 25 spot. USC women’s golf is one of the teams to beat this season, and they surely have the rankings to back it up.

🔼 Gold Plating. For the past couple of seasons, Trojan football has had a different kind of aura around the team. That feeling has largely changed because of the culture and attitude Coach Lincoln Riley has brought in to USC.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

USC men’s volleyball has received the top spot from VolleyballMag.com (as voted on by DI and DII head coaches) with the nation’s top incoming freshman/transfer class for the upcoming season.

The incoming quartet of freshman is highlighted by the No. 1 recruit in the nation - the 6-foot-10 blocker, Wes Smith. Joining him are outside hitter Jack Ebertin, outside hitter Jakobi Lange, and defender Brad Pan. The fab-four freshman were all 2023 Fab 50 picks. The lone transfer joining the team is Josh Friedman, a former player for the University of Hawaii.

This year’s squad will look to improve on last year’s 12th ranked finish that saw the Trojans exit in the first round of the MPSF tournament.
