Medals On Medals, One Big Thing, and much more!
Good morning! Today is a day to celebrate all of our student-athletes for what they have accomplished in the classroom throughout their time as a Trojan. Congrats grads, we can’t wait to see what’s next for all of our new USC alumni!
What all can you find in today's Brew?

⚾️ One Big Thing
⚔️ And much, much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Medals On Medals. The Trojans fought hard this weekend in the Pac-12 Championships, and were awarded with two second place finishes on both the men’s and women’s side of the competition.
Johnny Brackins Jr. was named the Male Athlete of the Meet after accounting for 20.5 of the Trojans points on the men’s side.
Women’s 4×400 relay took first place and became reigning Pac-12 Champs after posting a time of 3:30.83 thanks to the running of Bailey Lear, Yemi John, Caisja Chandler, and Jan’Taijah Jones.
Men’s 4×100 relay also took first, winning the Pac-12 title after a season-best time of 39.05 seconds.
The team will travel to Sacramento later this month to compete in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds as they start their journey to a championship trophy.
🔼 Heck Of A Run. After a valiant effort, the Trojans suffered defeat in lacrosse’s first round of NCAA Tournament play. No. 5 Denver bested USC by a score of 10-7 to send the No. 18 squad back home.
If you know anything about Trojan athletics, it’s that our teams don’t go down without a fight. Christina Gagnon gave USC her second hat trick of the season, and shared the lead in team points on the day as Isabelle Vitale also earned three points from a goal of her own as well as a couple of assists. The game was all knotted up at six apiece at the end of the third quarter, but the Trojans were outscored 4-1 in the fourth to send DU into the second round.
This season for women’s lacrosse however is nothing to hang your head about. Finishing as Pac-12 Champions, winning sixteen games, and a top-20 national ranking is something the team should be proud of.
🔼 Headed Abroad. Get your beach gear ready, because the Trojans are headed south to Brazil to embark on a 10-day tour to play some of the best teams the country has to offer.
USC will make stops in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janiero, Saquarema, and Arraial do Cabo to both train at top facilities, and play some of Brazil’s U21 teams including Paineiras and Sao Caetano. The journey begins on May 22nd, and will go through the beginning of June to help the team prepare for regular season play this coming fall.
🔼 Fought On. The season came to a close in the NCAA Championship game against No.1 Stanford, and after a hard fought match, it wasn’t meant to be as the Trojans fell in a close one, 11-9. Recap all the championship action here.
USC had an incredible run up until this point. The Trojans at one point late in the match were just one point away from tying things up, but the Cardinal pulled away with a late goal to extend the lead back to two and ultimately won the ‘ship.
The Trojans cannot hang their heads on such a great season, and after the dust settles, USC will bounce back to it and prepare for next season’s road to the title once again.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING
The Trojans brought out the broomsticks one last time at Dedeaux this season as USC finished off Arizona State for a third straight game this weekend.
Sunday’s game was a defensive battle as Tyler Stromsburg tossed a solid 6.2 innings and allowed just four hits on the day. The score was knotted up at 1 heading into the seventh inning, but Johnny Olmstead and the Trojans broke the tie in the bottom of the inning giving USC the lead. From there, it was all Trojans, as they added three more in the eighth after a pair of RBI hits from both Ryan Jackson and Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek. Watch the full highlights of today’s game here.
With the 31st win, and fourth sweep of the regular season, the Trojans move to 16-11 in the Pac-12 with just four games left to play. This week, USC faces off in a mid-week battle against LMU and then will end things off against Arizona for seeding in the Pac-12 Tournament.
