đź Among The Best. Earning her second career pick as a finalist for collegeâs top water polo player is our very own Tilly Kerns. The announcement was made that Kearns was named a Peter J. Cutino Award finalist for her efforts this season in the pool.
She lead USC this past season in steal and drawn exclusions, and added 69 goals to her career total which was ninth most in a single season in Trojan history. Kearns also became the 23rd Trojan to earn a finalist honor for the Cutino Award. The winner will be named on Saturday, June 3rd, and with a win, Tilly Kearns would join an elite group of USC Trojan womenâs water polo players.
đź What A Ride. It was quite a run for our girls at the womenâs NCAA Championships. Maddy Sieg (in both singles and doubles events), and Eryn Cayetano fell during the semifinal round this weekend. The senior, Cayetano, went out swinging alongside Sieg after falling in straight sets in their doubles match.
Maddy Sieg, the fantastic freshman, was defeated in straight sets in singles play as well, and wraps up her season with an incredible 32-3 overall singles record. She became the first Trojan to reach the NCAA singles and doubles semis in the same season.
đź Finished The Fight. After a pair of third place finishes and one fifth place finish, the Trojans finished the 2023 NCAA Womenâs Rowing Championships in 16th place at Camden County Boathouse. âToday we saw a lot of very gutsy racing. We are extremely proud of how we progressed as a team, and are excited for what the future holds.â said Trojan head coach Josh Adam.
đź Post Season Pride. Trojan duo Amari Avery and Catherine Park helped bring the 2023 womenâs golf program a Pac-12 title, runner-up finish in the National Championship, and now, earn WGCA All-American honors for their efforts.
Both golfers were selected as Honorable Mentions to the WGCA teams, and become the 37th and 38th All-American Trojans for the program. âWe are so proud that [they] are able to carry on the deep tradition of All-Americans in our program,â said head coach Justin Silverstein. Both golfers will return next season as they look to capitalize on their postseason accolades.
