🔼 More Hardware. After helping her team secure a victory in last weekend’s duel meet, Temi Ojora was named the Pac-12 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. She earned the award after winning three of her individual events including the high jump, long jump and triple jump, where she set her personal best.

Ojora is the fourth Trojan this season to win the weekly award, joining teammates Jasmine Jones, Caisja Chandler, and Allie Jones. This award winning squad is getting prepared for the Pac-12 Championships later next week. With talent like this, the Trojans are sure to make some noise.

🔼 Fought Hard. The Trojans fell just short after attempting to mount a comeback last night against Long Beach State. USC’s record moved to 25-18-1 on the season following the loss.

After going down early, USC put together a couple of runs to make it a game. Austin Overn and Ryan Jackson had a pair of RBI’s in the contest, but the star of the night was Jacob Galloway. He put together a stellar performance at the plate going 3-4 with a triple and three runs scored. Ultimately, the Dirtbags’ hot start was too much to overcome, and the Trojans were defeated 8-4.

Tonight, we have a date with Cal State Fullerton in a game that was rescheduled back in February. Then, Pac-12 play picks back up this weekend with the Trojans squaring up with the Ducks in a three-game home stand.

🔼 Count ‘Em Up. For the 19th consecutive season, Trojans water polo is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The 26-2 squad was given the No. 2 seed in the tournament, and will vying for their eighth national championship.

USC comes into the competition with an all-time NCAA record of 39-13, and is seeking to avenge their loss in last year’s championship. A title win this year would be the team’s second in three years, with their last championship coming in 2021. The Trojans enter the tournament coming off a loss to Stanford in the MPSF finals.

First up against USC is Fresno State who is coming into the matchup off a 17-8 regular season. Play begins for the Trojans on May 12th, so stay tuned for updates from the pool, coming soon.

🔼 Award Haul. USC Lacrosse nearly swept the All-Conference awards as the claimed nine spots across the two teams.

  • Claudia Shevitz earned the Midfielder of the Year award with her 34 goal performance this year.

  • Emma Wightman was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row after earning an all-conference award last year in Florida.

  • Kait Devir was given Co-Goalkeeper of the Year honors, becoming the first Trojan to win the award. She had 103 saves on the year and allowed just over seven goals per game.

  • Lindsey Munday became the second coach to earn Pac-12 Coach of the Year multiple times in a career.

The No. 1 seed Trojans, and all their awards, head to Berkeley, CA for the Pac-12 Tournament this Thursday.

🤔 TROJAN TRIVIA

On This Day. We mentioned at the top that the LA Coliseum turned 100, and like many moments in USC history, it’s been one heck of a ride. Since finishing construction in 1923, USC has made this place its home.

Our question today—speaking of home, do you know who the Trojans faced in the first ever home game at the LA Coliseum?

Think you got it? Scroll on down to the bottom of this email for the answer!

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

USC Athletics had an all-time performance in the classroom this year, setting records in APR scores across the board. A 930 APR score is needed for programs to compete in postseason play, and the Trojans blew that minimum requirement right out of the water. Here’s some facts by the numbers:

17 programs equaled or improved their APR scores from last year.

19 USC teams had an APR that was equal to or above the D1 national average.

990 was the multi-year APR score school record achieved by the Trojans’ student-athletes.

What a year it was for our athletes, both on and off the field!
