The Three Torches 6/16: USC Takes 1st & 2nd at NCAA Champs

The men tied for first and the women placed second at the NCAA Championships.

🔼 Recap. The track and field team had multiple athletes compete at the NCAA Championships. The men scored in seven events to win a share of the team title during the final day of competition. This was their first shared outdoor team title since 2013. USC became the third team to both NCAA Indoor and Outdoor titles in the same year, the first since 2015. The women placed second overall. Samirah Moody and the 4×100m relay team each placed first in their events.

🔼  Perfect Player. Perfect Game named Ethan Hedges to the All-America Second Team. This is the first time he has earned the honor in his career. In his career at USC, Hedges has a .309 batting average, 118 RBI, 18 home runs, 26 doubles, 12 triples and 125 runs scored. He owns a career OPS of .900, playing in a total of 167 games over the last three seasons. This year, he set career highs in hits, runs, RBI, home runs, triples, doubles, batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, walks and stolen bases.

Today’s Top Tier Performance presented by ARCO is the spring student-athletes! USC landed 151 student-athletes on the Big Ten Spring All-Academic Team. To be eligible, student-athletes must have been enrolled full-time for at least 12 months and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Academic Records. USC Athletics set new academic records in spring 2025. The cumulative GPA is 3.240, and 61 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA.
