The Three Torches 3/16: WBB is NCAA Tourney Ready!

The women's basketball was selected for the NCAA Tournament.

Good Morning, Trojans. The women’s basketball team is going dancing! The Trojans will play in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season under fifth year head coach Lindsey Gottlieb. The No. 9 seed Trojans will face No. 8 seed Clemson on Saturday.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Big Wins. The No. 12 baseball team opened its series against Northwestern with a 15-1 win on Friday. The Trojans hit four home runs and had 13 hits. The men wrapped up the series with a split Saturday. The men won 2-0 and fell 2-1. This marked the team’s first loss of the season. The men tied the program record with their 19th straight win. USC is now 19-1 overall and 5-1 in Big Ten play.

🔼 Champ Results. The track and field team competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The Trojans closed out the indoor season with four Trojans earning First Team All-American honors. Garrett Kaalund shattered the 200m collegiate record. Additionally, he recorded the second-fastest time in world history only .03 seconds behind the world record set by Frank Fredricks in 1996.

🔼 Invite Only. The No. 3 beach volleyball team competed at the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational. On day one, the Trojans beat Tampa 5-0, and fell to Florida State 3-2. On day two, the Trojans beat No. 13 Florida Atlantic 4-0 and No. 6 TCU 3-2. USC is now 17-3 on the season.

Court Report. The No. 12 women’s tennis team started its weekend with a 4-0 sweep over Penn State. The Trojans won the doubles point and three singles matches to secure the win. USC finished the weekend with a 4-1 win over No. 2 Ohio State.

Today’s Top Tier Performance presented by ARCO is the women’s water polo team. The No. 3 Trojans beat No. 5 ASU 21-17 on Saturday. Maggie Johnson racked up a new personal best six assists. Four Trojans recorded hat tricks.
